History
1st generation
Ramón Comas Bosch (1824-1877) started with a factory in Vic producing hides for upholstery, footwear and general leather good.
2nd generation
Ramón Comas Senmartí (1858-1909) made the leap to Barcelona where he opened a hide warehouse. A giant step which enabled him to start reaching the end customers.
3rd generation
Lluís Comas Depares (1900-1991) was the first to open up to the world and import raw materials from countries such as Holland, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.
4th generation
Jose Oriol Comas Aràjol (1929-present) was the pioneer to internationalise the company. At a time when the hide sector was at a low ebb, it was he who started in the business of natural casings through his contacts in the abattoirs, and who in 1970 converted Viva into the first company in the sector to open up to China, where he collaborated with the Chinese Government to import raw materials into Spain.
5th generation
Jose Oriol Comas Martinez de Tejada (1969-present) focused 100% on the casings business and stopped the hide division in 2011. It was then that Viva became the company it is today; specialists in natural casings who offer the best solutions to its end customers' needs, always centred on the best productivity and the development of natural casings, the likes of which has never been seen before today.
Viva currently sells its products all over Europe, with a significant presence in Germany and Northern Europe. It works with a team of engineers that guarantee the company's constant innovation. Viva has also recently established a new production plant in Spain.
